DESIGN COMMENTS:
52m Wavepiercer
This 52m wavepiercer is deliberately styled with a ’cab forward’ emphasis,
retaining the characteristic CLD styling with its distinctive hawk eye
window and ramping through three tiers to an upper observation deck.
Intended for use as both a private motor yacht and also for elite charter
purposes, the boat is targeted for operation in the US, Europe and the
Caribbean.
Four main accommodation levels are offered, including the upper heli
deck some 33’ above the waterline, affording dramatic views from the forward
facing observation lounge.
A circular atrium and stair landing surrounds the elevator shaft with
natural light filtering through all three levels of the boat from the glass
dome atop the observation deck roof. A bathroom, shower and change area
service the outside jacuzzi and a gymnasium, located in the aft sections
of the upper deck.
The helipad is sized to handle a Bell 430 helicopter or Bell Agusta
603 Tiltrotor aircraft, with full access to all parts of the aircraft from
the deck. 3000 gallons of Jet A fuel is carried aboard the vessel
The forward portion of the bridge deck is dominated by a command station
befitting a vessel of these proportions and complemented by a Portuguese
Bridge leading forward to the sunken bow and aft to the accommodation,
including the Captain’s and First Officer’s suites, storerooms, main galley,
movie theatre, and guest offices. The dining room on this level accommodates
a large dining table with seating for twenty people, as well as space for
a grand piano and loose seating. And when the weather is fine, there is
plenty of space for al fresco dining on the aft deck.
Luxury accommodation for the discerning guest is provided on the main
deck. Six king sized cabins and two twins, each with extensive ensuite
bathroom facilities, jacuzzi bath and private external deck with hydraulically
actuated screening doors can provide accommodation for 16 guests. Large
opening windows allow the guest cabin jacuzzi to be transformed into an
outside area.
The demi-hulls house all major machinery. Twin tender garages are located
in the aft sections of each demi-hull, housing 8m (26’) rigid bottomed
inflatable boats. Twin staircases at each quarter stern lead down to the
80 square foot swim platforms or to the tender garages.
The tenders are deployed via hydraulically actuated side doors, seven
feet wide and 30 feet long, which hinge close to water line and form a
useful dock for the tenders and other vessels to draw along side. This
also makes a convenient boarding area for guests arriving at the vessel
by water.
Powering is by four Caterpillar diesel engines via KaMeWa or Lips water
jets, making for a sprint speed in the order of 35 knots.
