OVERVIEW The process of having a boat designed and built is often a deeply rewarding
and enjoyable experience for all involved. The end result is a piece of
technical art and testimony to the skills, experience, attention to detail
and passion of the client, the designer and the builder.
The following pages are written in order to shed some light on the process and to provide prospective clients with an idea of what is involved. There are distinct phases associated with creating a finished vessel. These phases overlap and intertwine but are conveniently broken down as listed below. The amount of design work carried out in each, is dependent upon the size and type of vessel, the available budget and the quality of the yard chosen for the build.
